Setting up your MAC as a web server

These are the instructions if you are running MacOS Catalina. It should be reasonably similar in other versions so if you’re reasonably familiar with the MAC web ecosystem, these instructions will point you to the most important details.   1. Open Terminal and type:

sudo vi /etc/apache2/httpd.conf

2. Scroll down to “ServerRoot” and change this:

ServerRoot “/usr”


ServerRoot “~/Library/Application Support/REAPER/reaper_www_root”

3. press “😡” and press enter to save

4. press “:q” to quit

5. Type this in terminal: sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.apache.httpd.plist

6. Open a browser and type “localhost” and you should see a screen that shows “It Works!”
