If you’ve used the Positive Grid Spark app on your smartphone, it can be a bit of a pain to dial in your settings.
Bigkap Kap’s comment on my Spark 1.7 Update video made me wonder if it was possible to run the app in an emulator.
Short answer, yes running the apps will work, the problem is accessing a bluetooth connection through the emulator. I tried using NOX and Bluestacks and the app worked fine on both, but neither could access the bluetooth connection on my Mac.
There are some other options that I wasn’t able to test out, but might work:
- Use Virtual Box or VM Ware
- Step by step guide (an old one) for getting bluetooth to work in an emulator
Here’s a list of other emulators for running iOS apps on Windows as well.
The good news for Mac users is now (as of November 2020) that Apple is using their arm-based M1 chips in their new devices, you *should* be able to run native iOS devices on your Mac. Once I get my hands on them, I’ll give it a shot!
